North East Calgary

Don’t miss your opportunity to own one of the many top-quality homes in this vibrant area of the city. A house for sale in NE Calgary has your name on it!

From a geographical perspective, Calgary's North Eastern quadrant is the smallest, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in diversity. And this diversity extends beyond its variety of listings, as this section of the city is quite culturally diverse as well. Indeed, many of the communities in Calgary NE include businesses with an international flair, catering to a wide range of ethnicities and religious traditions from around the globe.

Given this diversity, real estate development now focuses on multi-generational and extended-family housing to accommodate the demand. In fact, the northeastern section is the fastest selling community in Calgary of late, so if you happen to be a newcomer to our fair city, its northeastern quadrant is a great location in which to settle down.

Whether you’re new to the city, a retiree in search of more bang for your buck, or want to immerse yourself in a wider variety of multicultural amenities and activities, Calgary's North East is the place to be! Calgary North East: A City on the Grow

Home to the Calgary International Airport, the city’s northeastern section is its transportation and logistics hub. Driven economically by the ever-expanding warehousing and distribution areas surrounding the YYC airport, the northeast now has more hotels than downtown Calgary.

Having grown by more than 6,000 residents in 2018 alone, listings indicate that it’s the fastest growing quadrant of Calgary, with new residential communities such as Cityscape and Skyview Ranch popping up recently and serving as an attraction for a younger demographic.

Some of the highlights of the Calgary NE landscape include the 1.1 million square foot shopping outlet Deerfoot City and the Telus Spark Science Centre, which is a good option for kids and adults. The popular Country Thunder concert event is held in the northeast at Prairie Winds Park every year, and there are also six golf courses nearby in case you feel the need to hit the links without travelling too far. These include the McCall Lake Golf Course and Silverwing Links Golf course.

Calgary NE also boasts seven Calgary Light Rail Transit (LRT) system stations, making any trip downtown a pleasant one if you decide to leave the car at home. Travelling into and out of the core of the city is a breeze with the newly opened McKnight-Westwinds LRT station near Saddleridge, Castleridge, Taradale, and Martindale. And if you feel like driving, you're in luck, as the smoothly paved roads offer a quick route for drivers and bus riders alike.

Come One, Come All: A Choice for Everyone

Calgary North East may have the best listing options for you if you’re a first-time buyer, budget-conscious professional, or for those who are simply looking to get their hands on some of the more affordable housing options available in Calgary. But this section of Calgary is not only for young individuals, new arrivals, or bargain-hunters. It's also popular with retirees as well! On the outer edges of the Calgary NE, you'll find a prime choice of rural and farm properties.

Aside from more rural properties, there is a wide range of condos and semi-detached homes to choose from, as well as a solid amount of choice in terms of mid and high-end homes to boot. You'll find spectacular deals on mid-century houses, bungalows, new constructions, and single-family homes. In fact, some of the areas within Calgary's northeast are pretty well-established, having been built in the pre-war period. These mature neighbourhoods, which include neighbourhoods like Mayland Heights, Bridgeland, Renfrew, Coral Springs, and others, are proud to show off tree-lined streets planted decades ago, creating a real treat for the eye as you look out the window and sip on a coffee in your new kitchen.

Some of our Favourite Attractions

Calgary NE has a plethora of family-friendly activities and amenities available to take advantage of, and is dotted with playgrounds and parks for children to enjoy. Here you'll find the Winston Heights Xccent Playground, Spray Park, the Rotary Park Playground, and many more.

In this area, you'll also find the the Hangar Flight Museum—formerly known as the Aerospace Museum of Calgary. Here, you can grow your understanding and appreciation of the great history of flight through the various airplanes used, as well as through the stories of the people that flew them. There are also plenty of shopping options to choose from, such as the Sunridge and Marlborough malls, as well as the CrossIron Mills and McKnight Village Shopping Centres.

If you're in the mood for exotic animals, Calgary NE has got you covered. This area is home to the ever-exciting Calgary Zoo, housing nearly 1,000 creatures from over 119 species. It's one of the city’s favourite family destinations, with up to one third of Calgary residents visiting every year, and 97,000 of them holding annual memberships.

Some of our favourite neighbourhoods in Calgary NE include Skyview Ranch, Cornerstone, and Redstone. Skyview is great because it’s only 20 minutes from downtown, but still has the benefit of providing a healthy dose of peace and quiet. It's close to the airport, too! Cornerstone is adjacent to Skyview, sitting on 1,000 hectares of pristine land with fantastic prairie views. It's also very close to the Peter Lougheed Hospital. Redstone is full of parks, pathways, and has easy access to Stony Trail.
